She grew up in her early years in the City of Antwerp with her now deceased parents, Joseph and Maria Beauweraerts, and brother Pierre. The family emigrated to the United States when Lil was twelve years of age. Lil moved to Citrus County in the early 1970’s with husband John, and her two beloved children, Lisa and John Alvenus, both Crystal River High School Grads.
She became active in local real estate and worked closely with strong land developers during the late seventies and through the nineteen eighties. She earned her Broker’s License and she and her long-time companion and partner, Hal Steiner, founded and successfully ran Citrus Ridge Realty beginning in 1997. They earned the Realtor’s Citrus County Broker of the Year award in 2005.
Lil had many loves besides family and friends. These included cooking, reading, sewing, tending to her cactus varieties, playing board games, and cards, but most of all Travel. She and Hal were fortunate to be able to visit and enjoy numerous countries throughout the world over the years. She relished the chances to learn the many cultures including the cuisines of each. The country most revered and visited was Belgium to enjoy cherished relatives and old friends. The National Parks were very much adored by her and Hal.
