Maria Sestito

Maria was born on May 17, 1922 to Marianna Fera & Domenico Macri in Chiaravalle Centrale, Province of Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy. She was the eldest of 7 children. On July 2, 1942 she married Antonio Sestito. In 1962 she immigrated to the United States with her family, and settled in Irvington before moving to Dobbs Ferry. She lived in Dobbs Ferry until 2005 when she relocated to Clearwater, Florida.

Although Maria held many jobs in her 92 year long life, her most important position was as a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Maria is survived by her 4 adoring children: Salvatore(Kathy), Anna Maria Varano(Francesco), Frank(Linda), & Antonietta(late Aurelio). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Charlene & Steven Sestito, Assunta, Antonella, Marisa & Valeria Varano, Melissa Sestito, Alex & Adam Servello. Additionally, she is survived by 7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Antonio in 1991, her daughter- in -law Virginia in 2000, and her son-in-law Aurelio in 2002.

Maria was an avid beach goer. In addition to spending time with her loving family she was also a dedicated member of the Dobbs Ferry community and Our Lady of Pompeii parish. She was lovingly referred to as "Commare Maria" by many. Services will be held in Florida. A local memorial service will be announced at a later time.
