On December 9, 2013 at 4:30 PM in Kindred Hospital in Ocala, Florida one sun set and another glorious one rose for Marvin Francis Harris. At the time that our Heavenly Father called him home, he was residing at 2647 SW 33rd Ave in Ocala, FL.
On May 30, 1962 he was born to Franklin and Lida Harris in the Bronx, New York where he attended, elementary and JHS. During those early years he displayed a love for music, in particular, the conga drums where he showcased his talents on the stage of the infamous Town Hall Theater in New York City. In addition to music, Marvin also developed an eye for art. Painting was one of his favorite pastimes along with camping, fishing and canoeing.
In 1996, Marvin relocated to South Florida where he flourished both in his spiritual life and his career. Spiritually, he was a member at Calvary Chapel in Ft Lauderdale, FL where he was involved in a lot of areas of ministry. He served at Calvary House, which was a mentoring program for men struggling with addictions. He led bible studies and mentored men to follow Christ in all areas of their life. He also served in the prayer ministry, praying and encouraging others both in hospitals and nursing homes. Marvin served as an usher and one of his proudest duties was to help with beach baptisms.
Upon finding Meadowbrook Church, despite his declined health, Marvin attempted to serve the Lord and his community as best he could.
He had many verses he often spoke of. One of his favorites was Romans 8:28 which reads, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose". His favorite song was Prince of Peace by Clay Hecocks.
Marvin enjoyed a successful career in the health field both in New York and Florida. He ended his career as a Substance Abuse Counselor. After relocating to Central Florida, Marvin attended CFCC and pursued a degree in nursing until his health declined.
Marvin was a caring, compassionate, attentive and loving person with a quiet spirit but a huge personality. No one will ever forget that big smile or laugh.
Marvin leaves, to cherish his memory, his mother, Lida K Collier; 2 brothers, Anthony Harris and Keenen Harris ; 1 sister, Sabrina Hubbard; 1 sister-in-law, Lesley Harris; 5 nieces; 4 nephews; 1 grand niece and a host of other relatives and friends who will all love him always and miss him dearly.
GOD IS NEVER LATE NOR IS HE EARLY, HE ARRIVES PRECISELY WHEN HE MEANS TO.
