

Michael Arthur Rockhold, 68, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away, Saturday, October 31, 2015 after a courageous battle with Stage 4 lung cancer. He was born October 9, 1947 to Ellsworth and Evelyn (McCoy) Rockhold in Springfield, Illinois. Michael married his high school sweetheart Marie Nowicki on April 19, 1969 in Cudahy, WI and they shared 46 years of marriage together. They raised their family in Iowa and moved to Florida in 1999.
Michael is survived by his wife Marie Rockhold, son Jason Rockhold of Charlotte, North Carolina, 2 daughters Amy Rockhold of Tampa, Florida and Wendy (Brad) Donahue of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandchildren Audrey and Troy Donahue. Michael was a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.
Michael was a combat Veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the 3rd Marine Division. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family will attest. He was a member of the American Legion, Marion County Sheriff Citizens Patrol and Rainbow River Watch. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon. He enjoyed carpentry, boating, fishing and cycling.
Family and friends will celebrate the life of Michael on Friday, November 6. Visitation will be held from 10:00- 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Dunnellon, FL, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Michael will be laid to rest, with Full Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida at 2:00 pm Friday.
