
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Michele attended The Louisville Collegiate School before continuing her education at Centre College in Danville. After receiving her B.A. from Centre, Michele went on to work for the University of Louisville Medical School. While working for U of L, she attended classes and received her Master’s Degree. Michele later moved to Edgewood, Kentucky where she worked for Northern Kentucky University. Following her passion, Michele was able to open a Wild Bird specialty store and become a fully licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
Michele moved to Dunnellon, Florida in 2004 and quickly became involved with wildlife rehabilitation efforts in Citrus County. She joined and later became CEO of HOPE Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc. Michele loved German Shepherds and adopted several over the years, providing them with care to insure them a good life.
Michele is survived by her brother, Hugh (Karen) Adkins, two nephews Preston (Amanda) Adkins and their children Hadley and Wrigley, Garrett (Taylor) Adkins and niece Kaely Adkins, as well as numerous cousins. Michele was preceded in death by her father, Hugh P. Adkins and her mother, Flora H. Adkins.
