Shirley M. Burt

Shirley M. Burt, 79, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away on Sat., July 6, 2013 at her home. A native of Cuba, NY, she was born May 23, 1934 to Lionel and Mabel (Goedel) Hitchcock, one of six children. Mrs. Burt enjoyed raising her family, tending to her home and flowers, and worked in the medical field as well as owning and operating a dairy farm in New York. As a snowbird of 13 years, she moved permanently to Dunnellon in 2006 and was an active member of Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church in Crystal River, FL. Shirley is survived by daughters Sandra Kent (husband Mark), Dunnellon, FL and Shelly Burt, Lexington, KY; sisters Sheila Dunham (husband Virgil), Little Valley, NY and Cheryl Isaman, Dunnellon, FL; grandchildren Jason, Kimberly, Kara, Kalan, Stefanie, Scott, Stewart, Seth, Sabrina, T.J., Karrie, Jeremy, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Nelson Karn Burt (Feb. 14, 2006), son Stephen Burt (May 8, 2010) and grandson, Kyle Kent (November 29, 2003); siblings Paul and Ralph Hitchcock and Carolyn Metz.
