Obituary of Theodore William Rubel
IN THE CARE OF

Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center & Fero Memorial Gardens

Theodore W. Rubel (Ted) of Citrus Springs, FL and formerly of Ledyard, CT, Arco, ID, Wrentham, MA and East Falmouth, MA, passed away on July 21, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on January 25, 1930. In his early years he received his education in parochial school in Stoughton, MA. Beloved son of the late Theodore A. and Gertrude E. (Murphy) Rubel of Stoughton, MA. Loving husband to the late Nancy E. (Eklund) Rubel. And the late beloved brothers George Rubel of Ledyard, CT and Richard Rubel of Lake Luzerne, NY.

Ted joined the Army around 1948. He was a Master Electrician. His early working years were spent at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT. Later, in the late 1970s, he joined the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA. Serving aboard the research vessel RV Knorr, as Chief Electrician, which carried The Alvin deep-sea manned submersible. He was aboard during many expeditions to the Galápagos Islands, where the team of scientists/ marine geologists had earlier discovered active hydrothermal vents and unexpectedly thriving marine life, including the giant tube worms. He also taught the electrical course at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Bourne, MA. Finishing out his working years, he owned and operated a small electrician business.

Jack of all trades. A gentleman farmer, dad built barns and corrals. Ted was patriotic, he loved his country. Gentle, kind, and was a country boy at heart. He found so much joy and serenity in nature. Birds, dogs, horses, oceans and mountains. Watching old westerns and classic movies along with documentaries. Traveling through the years with mom and pulling their camper from coast to coast. Those were such happy days in their retirement. He specifically loved the Black Hills of South Dakota as he honored the Native Americans. Dad loved to laugh and be silly with his children and grandchildren. We had many happy days reminiscing. He was a wealth of knowledge and historian of family stories. Dad was so happy when we made his favorite home cooked meals with dessert to follow. We will cherish those days for all of our lives. He lived a long and fruitful life.

Our father, Theodore W. Rubel will be forever missed and loved. May his soul rest in gentle peace. We take great comfort knowing he is reunited with his favorite girl, his Nancy, our cherished mother. Bless you dearest parents.

Survived by his four loving and loyal children; Debra (Jeff) Eisenhauer of Brandon, SD. Margaret (Chuck) Filling of E. Falmouth, MA. Karin Wallis (her partner Joe) of Newton, NH. Ted (Kathy) Rubel of Citrus Springs, FL. Beloved brother Robert Rubel of Greer, SC.

Proud and loving grandfather “Pa” of twelve grandchildren; Wes, Dan, Emily, Travis, Mark, Kate, Erin, Gin, Steve, Chris, Melissa, and Ted and fifteen great grandchildren. Along with many loved nieces and nephews.

Keeping with Dad's wishes he with his beloved wife will be interred at Dry Pond Cemetery in Stoughton, MA. There are no services planned.
