My son Alex was thought to have trouble reading and writing. He was put under the care of Mrs. Magditch and he had great affection for her.  She helped him get up to speed and then some, and today he is quite a successful builder in Southampton Long Island. I am sure she didn’t think of herself as a role model, but she shone brightly in my eyes, and I’m sure in the eyes of many others.

Aunt  Val  I  love  you  and  will miss  you  greatly and  you  will always  be  in my  heart  and  thoughts.  Uncle  Ron, Shannon and Andrew you are  all in my  thoughts...Love you all

How my heart has been aching since I heard of Val's death last week. Thank you so much for sharing the photos on this site with the many of us Val touched here in NH. What a flood of memories came back from over the years, starting way back in those early days at NHCS! Val had such passion -- for family, for friends, for all children, and for life. She was one of a kind, irreplaceable and unforgettable. Ron -- you, Shannon, and Andrew are ever in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Val in 1999 at BES. What a wonderful person and teacher! She will be missed.

Val was my very first E - Mail friend, during the years that followed we became true buddies and finally met up face to face in Ocala, Florida along with her hubby Ron. What a special couple and what a very special lady, the warmth of her cheeky smile and the superb English  she wrote and spoke, albeit with an American accent polished in N.H. will stay forever in our minds. Ron our special prayers are with you and to Vals family.

Old friends are the hardest to lose. I met Val in 1971 at Belknap College.  She had the smile. Through glad times and sad times the smile found its way out. She was happy at her wedding. She was happier when Shannon and Drew we're born. I'm sure that her grandchildren made her happier still. She remains in my memory a happy, smiling beautiful person.

I cannot express my feelings about how sorry I am to hear of Valerie's passing.  I met Val back in 1995 while taking care of her mom Frances.  After getting to know Frances for 6 months, I realized where Val had gotten her sense of humor...from her mom!  I was with this family for 2 yrs and I truly loved every visit to their home.  Valerie used to come up and visit on her lunch breaks from the New Hampton School and we grew closer and closer while taking care of her mom. We spent many afternoons laughing over nothing!  They were peas in a pod!  I love Valerie and I am so sorry this has happened.  My condolences go out to her wonderful family...I am truly sorry for your loss.  God Bless

I am blessed to have had Val as a friend for these last eight years. She and Ron have been so much more than next door neighbors.  They are family.  They loved me and my Duchess and watched out for me after my husband's death.  Their door was always open and they were there when I needed them.  And many a time I needed them when my job kept me out late into the night.  Duchess would spend the evening with them snuggled in Val's blanket and if the front porch light was off when I got home,  Duchess stayed the night. She often spoke of her children and grandchildren with such love and pride.  She always had pictures to show me of the grandchildren and shared their many accomplishments.    She loved teaching and I saw firsthand how good she was with the little ones. My heart breaks that my friend is gone. But the memories of holidays spent together, parties attended, her baking decadent desserts will last forever.  I am sure she is at peace in the gentle heart of Jesus.  God bless you, sister. . .

Val's greatest strengths as a teacher were her patience and her compassion. Anybody who ever worked with her learned from her as surely as her students did. It's hard to guess how many lives she touched, how many children she guided into meaningful and successful adulthood.
