Verna Sue Long

Sue was born in Dayton, Ohio to Marvin Sam and Lillie Dee Willett on October 11, 1937. She went to high school at Dixie High School and graduated in 1955. She attended Miami-Jacobs Junior College in Dayton. She worked over 30 years in Dayton, OH at several companies including General Motors and Tait Pumps. She also loved selling Avon and Tupperware and enjoyed the fellowship and community that went with it. She served with the Northmont Jaycees in Englewood, Ohio for many years. She was an avid bridge player and a savy hair dresser for family and friends. Sue and Wayne spent many years traveling and sightseeing the United States, playing golf at every opportunity. They retired to Crystal River, FL in 1996 and continued to enjoy the sun, golf and playing cards for the next 30 years.

Sue is survived by her husband Wayne L Long of 68 years, of Crystal River, FL, daughter Robin Jones of Crystal River, FL, son, Gregory (Theresa) Long of Union, OH, daughter Pamela Long of Cedar Rapids, IA. Sisters, Norma Tucker of Murfreesboro, TN, Jo Ann Tabor of West Alexandria, OH and Carole (Ray) Kimmel of Eldorado, OH. Grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Baker of Morrow, OH, Philip (Chelsay) Long of Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Brittany Long of Xenia, OH, and Jacquelin Long of Savannah, GA. Seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Megan, Levi, Galveston, Henry, Joshua and Archie.

Sue is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Sam Willett and mother Lillie Dee Willett.

The family will share blessings in a private service. In lieu of flowers/gifts please share donations/gifts with your local Hospice care organization. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the VITAS Healthcare (Hospice) organization of Lecanto, FL.
