Vince was born on September 8, 1927 in Westfield, MA to Andrew and Leatrice Gonzalez. He is survived by his wife Bonita (Bonnie) of 41 years. Also surviving are 2 sons, Richard Gonzalez of MA and Ned Fairbanks of CT. Special girls in his life include: Lisa DeAlesio of Minnesota, Gigi Demarest of CT, Jennifer Gallagher in Florida and Angela Ferrante of Colorado. Also survived by sister-in-laws, Patricia (Fred) Harris in TX, Jean (Robert) Wasillowski of MA, Cindy Kocar of MA and brother-in-law Roy Cross, Easthampton, MA. Predeceding him in death were Dorothy Lucas, Diane Cross, Robert LaFreniere and JoAnn LaFreniere. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Prior to moving to Florida, Vince served as business agent for ATU local 448, representing workers for 5 companies as well as treasurer for Pioneer Valley AFL-CIO. He represented labor for United Way and was chairman of Appeals committee of Algomated Transit Union.
Vince and Bonnie moved to Florida in 1994 where he joined and volunteered in many associations and clubs. He served as president of the Beverly Hills Recreation Association. He was captain of Beverly Hills Surveillance Unit for 5 years. He was board member of the Beverly Hills Civic Association, BH-MSBU, Community Council and member of the Beverly Hills Fishing Club. Vince was a lifetime member of the Elks and Moose and was the 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. Vince served his country honorable in the U.S. army in Germany and Korea Attaining the rank of Sgt.
His hobbies included bowling, playing cards and traveling with his friends. He will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to hospice. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined.
