Walter Emanuel Decker, age 88, passed away on March 1, 2026. Born on August 6, 1937, Walter lived a life defined by his dedication to his family, his country, and his craft.
A proud United States Navy Veteran, Walter honorably served his country aboard the USS Saratoga. Following his time in the military, he built a long and respected career as a Master Carpenter with Local 1394. He further dedicated his skills to his community by working as a locksmith for the Broward County School Board. He retired to Central Florida and enjoyed many years of quality time with his family and friends, often enjoyed over a meal at a new restaurant.
Walter was a faithful servant of God whose life reflected his deep and abiding faith. He served his church for many years as a deacon and found great joy in worship through music. Walter loved singing in the church choir, and in his earlier years he was part of a gospel singing group, sharing his love of the Lord through song.
Walter is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Jean Decker, and his grandson, Adam Trent Barnes.
He is survived by his loving children: Walter Jeffrey Decker (wife Cynthia), Michael Scott Decker (wife Charlene), and Donna Barnes (husband Alan). His legacy will be carried on by his cherished grandchildren, Philip Barnes (wife Allison) and Michael Dylan Decker (wife Courtney), as well as his great-grandchildren, Henry Barnes, Lucas Decker, and Liam Decker.
