Queens, New York; the youngest of seven. He proudly served as a medic in the U.S. Army during WWII. Walter owned delicatessens in Queens and
Nassau counties while living on Long Island, New York. Upon moving to Florida, Walter was actively involved in square dancing and bridge. Later, he became the Director of the Beverly Hills Bridge Club. Walter enjoyed a quick wit, playing games and loved telling jokes. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Blue Army Prayer Group. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council # 6168; he was a Knight for almost 70 years.
Walter was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, John and Alfred Wezwick and sisters, Estelle McGuiness, Thecla Keller and Jeanne Wezwick.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Wezwick. He had four daughters, Barbara Wezwick of Bradenton, Florida, Theresa Wezwick (predeceased), Laura Wezwick and husband Joseph Gardner of Franklin Square, New York and Janet Barbosa and husband Baltasar of Mineola, New York; grandchildren, Shawn Densberger of Bradenton, Florida, Kaitlin Kastens of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Michelle and Ryan Barbosa of Mineola, New York; great grandchildren, Madison and Levi Kastens.
Visitation, Friday, August 15, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home in Beverly Hills, Florida. Funeral Mass, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace. Internment will take place at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, New York.
