

Albert “Al” Franklin Davenport, Jr., age 85, of Irondale, AL, passed away on May 22, 2025. He was born in Selma, AL, to Albert and Evelyn Davenport. He was affectionately known as “Buddy” to his oldest friends and graduated from A.G. Parrish High School.
After graduation, Al served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1961. He then received a Business degree from the University of Alabama and went on to earn an M.B.A. from Samford University. He retired from BellSouth.
Al was a devoted Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Birmingham. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a passionate Alabama football fan and loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Evelyn Davenport, and his sister, Ginny Bryant.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Edwards Davenport; his daughters, Karen Kornegay Price (Thomas) of Pulaski, TN, and Stefani Davenport (Jamie Carney) of Theodore, AL; his sister, Shirley Ezell; and four grandchildren: Alex Price, Lauren Price, Nathan Price, and Kathryn Price.
The funeral service for Al will take place at First Baptist Church of Birmingham on Tuesday, May 27, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church before the service at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Thomas Price, Jamie Carney, Alex Price, Nathan Price, Eric Denenberg, and Evan Denenberg. Dr. Jim Cooley will preside over the service.
Interment will take place at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL, at a later date for the family.
