Alice Jeter Kieran, of Birmingham, passed away on November 26th, 2020 at the age of 86. Alice married Robert (Bob) Edmund Kieran in 1955. They raised two daughters and remained happily married for 63 years before Bob passed away in 2019. Alice is survived by her two daughters Kathy Kieran Hinds Banfe (Jerry), and Susan Kieran Malone (Davis). She is also survived by five grandchildren: Robert Miller and John H. “Jack” Hinds, Margaret Malone Young (JT), Wallace, and William Malone.
Alice was born on February 6, 1934 in Birmingham, to James William Jeter and Virginia Marie Jeter. She was one of four children. Alice is survived by James (Sonny) William Jeter, Jr. (Jerri), Dorothy (Dot) Jeter Timmons, and Virginia Mae Jeter Thompson (Bill). Alice graduated from Ramsey high school, where she was a majorette and played softball.
Alice met Bob at the Hollywood Country Club and they were married on September 23rd, 1955. With Bob, she started Kieran Construction Company and built quality homes in Birmingham and Huntsville. Bob built the homes and Alice managed all the office functions. Alice and Bob raised their two girls in Birmingham. Alice was a doting mother and an active Bible study participant. Alice loved gardening and was an avid knitter. Alice was a long-time member of Briarwood Presbyterian church. Graveside services will be held this Wednesday at 2:00 at Elmwood Cemetery.
