Surrounded by family and God's love Ann Hinesley Patterson passed away April 24, 2026, at the age of 93. Her family is feeling gratitude and peace in knowing that she is now in the loving arms of our heavenly Father.
Ann was born in Wylam, Alabama on January 22, 1933. She was a graduate of Ensley High School. Ann was an active member of Wylam Baptist Church, Ensley Baptist Church and Shades Crest Baptist Church and loved playing the piano and singing in church choirs from age 13 into her eighties. For many years she loved serving Shades Crest Baptist at the Wednesday Night Supper reception table where she was able to meet and greet everyone coming to dinner. She was certainly a people person. She also loved being a 60-plus year member of the Wylam Birthday Club.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Theron Gilette Patterson, her parents, Howard Oscar Hinesley and Nova Lee Moore Hinesley, her loving sister Laura Lee Hinesley Parker and son-in-law, William 0. Head, III.
Ann was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a source of love and warmth to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She is survived by her loving and faithful children, son, Steve Patterson (Marilyn), and daughter, Linda Patterson Head.
Anne's pride and joy were her four grandchildren, Brett Powell (Ashley), Angela Powell, Marc Patterson (Katelyn) and Rachel Patterson and her three bonus grandchildren Kaylin Head, Kynleigh Head and Kolton Head. Ann also loved her three great grandchildren Logan Powell, Lainey Powell and Theo Patterson. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews and loving caring friends.
The family would like to thank her caregivers from The Gardens of Pelham, Brookdale Skilled Nursing Center and Aveanna Hospice.
Services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Johns-Ridout’s Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel. Rev. Nic Seaborn officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum.
