Born on July 23, 1937, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the late Lewis Farley and Abby Taylor Farley, Ann lived a life rooted in love, faith, and family. From a young age, Ann displayed a remarkable sense of responsibility and care. One of her fondest childhood memories was rising early to make breakfast for her father before he tended the farmland. At just nine years old, she was already making biscuits from scratch—biscuits her father adored and praised, a testament to the culinary gifts she would share with generations to come.
Ann married the love of her life, Edward Alan Taylor, Jr., on October 10, 1957. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her extraordinary cooking. A dedicated housewife and mother, Ann’s talents extended far beyond the kitchen. She had a green thumb that could coax beauty from the most unlikely soil—her husband often said she could “plant a broomstick and grow a pot of pure beauty.” Her garden was a living reflection of her spirit: vibrant, nurturing, and full of life.
She was also a playful and creative grandmother, known for her whimsical Play-Doh creations—especially her lifelike cats that delighted her grandchildren. Ann’s faith was a guiding light in her life. Baptized Baptist, she also found joy and peace in the Catholic faith, and she and Edward generously supported numerous charities and organizations throughout their lives.
Ann’s greatest legacy lies in the lives she touched. She raised, taught, and inspired not only her own children but four generations of family, leaving an indelible mark on each of them. Her wisdom, creativity, and unconditional love shaped the hearts and minds of those lucky enough to know her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Alan Taylor, Jr.; her son, John D. Luno; granddaughter, Millie Holderfield; sister, Ludie Corley; and great-grandchildren, Brittany Holderfield and Byron Bolton.
Ann is survived by her loving children, Pamela Taylor Holderfield and great-great grandson Oliver Holderfield. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jasmine Holderfield (Chester Bolton), Jonathan Holderfield, Austin Holderfield, Jade Wilson (Chuck), Jennifer Dempsey, Brian Riggle, Tracy Luno (Shea), Jeremy Luno (Nicci), Marcus Luno (Mary), and Alyson Luno. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Damien Meadows, Chris Meadows, Celestial Holderfield, Ann Loyal Bolton, William Bolton III, Raven Riggle, Xander Riggle, and Anthony, Andrew, and Alyssa Dempsey.
Ann’s cherished pets, Swifty and Ladybird, and a host of extended family and friends will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with a service beginning at 2:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to ProHealth Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Ann’s final years.
Ann Loyal Taylor’s life was a beautiful testament to love, resilience, and the quiet power of nurturing others. Her memory will live on in the gardens she grew, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
