
Anna Abercrombie Schepker, 71, of Hoover, died Wednesday, March 30, at home after a brief illness. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama, to Lewis K.Abercrombie and Ann Grice Abercrombie, who died earlier. Anna was married to Stephen D. Schepker, who survives. She taught for many years at Green Acres Elementary School and Crestline Elementary School. She also worked at Cokesbury Bookstore and in the nursery at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member. Anna attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama. She completed teacher re-certification training at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Doug Schepker and Adam Schepker; and a brother, Lewis K. Abercrombie Jr. Other survivors include a sister, Judy Meyer of Auburn, Ga.; two daughters in law, Jennifer Schepker of Gulf Shores, and Suzanne Schepker of Vestavia Hills; five grandchildren, Trey, Tyler and Sam Schepker of Gulf Shores and Summer and Brooke Schepker of Vestavia Hills; an aunt, Teeny Cargile of Moody, Ala.; her beloved dog, Carrie; and a host of cousins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 8, at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. A graveside service for family and close friends will be at Elmwood Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
