Born on March 29, 1943, in Birmingham, Anne was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lois Driver. She grew up with a deep appreciation for learning and community, graduating from Ensley High School before continuing her education at the University of Alabama. While there, she was a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega. Anne later earned her master’s degree in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a testament to her lifelong dedication to knowledge and service.
Anne devoted her career to shaping young minds within the Shelby County School District. She inspired generations of students as an Earth and Life Science teacher at Pelham High School, Riverchase Middle School, and Oak Mountain Middle School. Her compassion and wisdom extended beyond the classroom when she served as a counselor at Oak Mountain Middle School, where she touched countless lives with her guidance, patience, and unwavering care.
Outside of her professional life, Anne found joy in the simple and meaningful things. She was an avid reader, a creative artist who loved to draw, and an adventurous traveler. Among her favorite destinations were the Mediterranean, Paris, London, and the sunlit shores of Florida.
Yet, above all else, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Susan Levin; and her sister, Peggy Chancey.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Jennifer Levin; her grandchildren, Henry Levin, Jacob Bonora, and Joseph Bonora; her son-in-law, Mark Kennedy; and her nieces, Cindy Tyus and Pam Chancey. Anne is also lovingly remembered by her dearest friend of 50 years, Glenda Deaver Wolfe, who remained faithfully by her side until the very end.
Anne’s life was one of kindness, dedication, and enduring love. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her passion for teaching, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her.
A celebration of Anne’s life will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
