

Anthony Joseph Giovino, Sr. (Tony), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his loving wife by his side, on July 5, 2026, in Robertsdale, Alabama. He was 93 years old.
Born on December 15, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama, Tony was the son of Charles Anthony Giovino and Rosalie Giovino. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to family values. He began his career as a shoemaker alongside his father in Birmingham. Tony proudly served as a Navy Frogman during the Korean War, exemplifying courage and commitment.
After his military service, Tony embarked on a life filled with entrepreneurial ventures and family devotion. He married Mary Joan Tillman Giovino. Together they built a family and a legacy of love and hard work. Tony's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish several successful businesses, including a cleaning and moving company, game room, candy story and a pest control company with his supportive wife, Mary Joan. Later in life, he retired as the head of security at Eastwood Mall.
A devout Christian who deeply loved the Lord, Tony was an active member of The Cathedral of Saint Paul in Birmingham, Alabama. As a deacon at the church, he dedicated himself to serving others and instilled strong faith-based values in his children by sending them to school there. His faith guided him throughout his life and inspired those around him.
Tony was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Charles Anthony Giovino Jr.
He is survived by his supportive wife Mary Joan Tillman Giovino; his sisters Marie Artale and Patricia Mahoney; his children: Margaritta Marble (Danny), Tina Greenlee, Roselee Giovino, Anthony Giovino Jr., Patricia Davis, John Giovino, and Angela Davis (Chris). Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews—including Larry Keel (Pam)—cousins, and extended family members whom he cherished deeply.
Tony will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for the wisdom he imparted to those around him. He taught others to be kind to everyone they met, work diligently toward their goals, and maintain faith through prayer. A joy to converse with and a man of great character, he left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
May Anthony’s memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration to those who mourn his passing. His legacy of love, faithfulness, and perseverance will continue to live on through the lives he touched so profoundly.
