August 1, 1959 – June 17, 2026
Birmingham, Alabama — Anthony Wayde Telle, a proud Marine, father and grandfather, dedicated worker, and the ultimate life of the party, passed away on June 17, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 66.
Raised in Alabama, Anthony carried a deep sense of loyalty and service throughout his life. As a young adult, he served as a United States Marine, one of his proudest accomplishments. After his service, he worked as an airplane mechanic. For over 20 years, he worked as a passionate and dedicated mover, building lifelong bonds and lasting relationships with coworkers and clients all over the country. Later in his career, he transitioned to working at Alabama Brick, where he found not just a job he grew deeply passionate about, but a supportive work environment and community that he truly cherished.
To know Anthony was to know a man who never met a stranger. You always knew when he was in the room, whether guided by his booming voice or the captivating story he was telling. Yet, for all his larger-than-life energy, Anthony was profoundly humble and kind. He possessed a rare, non-judgmental heart, accepting everyone exactly as they were, regardless of their walk of life, as evidenced by the amazing and varied friends he carried for his entire life.
Anthony’s passions were as vibrant as his personality. He loved history, music, and, of course, Talladega. He was an avid golf fan—watching the tournament on Father’s Day was a sacred family tradition. He also shared a deep, lifelong love for animals, especially dogs.
Above all, Anthony’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved daughters, whom he was immensely proud of: Olivia (Libby) Telle Van Gerwen (and her husband, Derek) and Mary Rebecca (Becky) Telle. He was the proud grandfather to his grandsons, Thomas Finn Van Gerwen and Max Phillip Van Gerwen, and is also survived by his best friend and brother, Ronny Telle, and his sister, Nota Dollar.
Anthony has been reunited with his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Lynn P. Telle, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his mother, Jeannine Wilkins; his father, Royce Telle; his brother, Whitney Telle; and many of his favorite dogs, including his favorite buddy Mr. Lou.
A memorial service to honor Anthony’s vibrant life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood (800 Denison Avenue, Birmingham, AL).
Flowers may be sent directly to the Elmwood chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Anthony's name, or adopting/fostering a pet at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, honoring his lifelong love for animals (https://gbhs.org/donate).
