
Arnold H. Reichert, child of God, was a long-time award-winning high school band director with bands in Huntsville, Vestavia, Trussville, and Jefferson County, and Melbourne, FL. He taught 32 years and retired in 2000. He was drum major at University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa’s Million Dollar Band for 2 years while in college and directed ROTC bands there as well.
He was a graduate of Coral Gables High School in Miami.
He is survived by wife of 25 years, Laura Reddick-Reichert, children Julie R. Jackson, Dr. Angie Dorsey (Andy), Sgt. Jason Reddick, and Rev. Ross Reddick (Leah), and Maggie (Cam) Corcoran. Grandchildren include Lucas and Rhett Jackson, Calvin and Stella Dorsey, Paxton and Sheppard Reddick, and Caroline, Cade, Caleb, and Colt Corcoran.
Arnold’s musical influence was widespread via his many students and through his participation in professional organizations, as well as a singer in the Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church choir in Trussville. He was an avid Japanese Maple Tree collector and yard-gardener in Trussville and was a former member of the Trussville Tree Commission.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church or to the CSPC church choir at 6110 Deerfoot Parkway, Trussville, 35173.
A Celebration of Life service will be Monday, July 13, 4:00 PM, at Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church, 6110, Deerfoot Parkway, Trussville, AL 35173. An ice cream and cookie reception will follow downstairs. All are welcomed.
