Barbara Moss Brannum, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020. Barbara was born in Birmingham and graduated from West End High School in 1965. She attended Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama in Birmingham, graduating from UAB with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Master’s degree in Special Education. She worked for the IRS, FBI, Jefferson County Board of Education, and retired from the VA Medical center in 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Brannum Austin (Robert), sisters Janet Moss Jones (L.G.) and Karen Moss Blackwood (Ronny), and brother William Gary Moss; her granddaughters Mallory, Madison, and Mackenzie Austin, nephews Brad Romager (Becky), Michael Blackwood, and niece Jennifer Blackwood McElrath (John), plus many great nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents W.C. Moss, Jr and Doris Sharpe Moss. She cherished all her family and friends. Service will be held at 2:00PM., with visitation at 1:00PM, Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center
