

Barbara was born January 1, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama and lived in Forsyth Georgia until graduating high school. She graduated from Mary Persons High School in Forsyth and Converse College in Spartanburg South Carolina. After college, Barbara met Clyde Coker from Birmingham at a mutual friend’s house. After a courtship between Forsyth and Birmingham, they married in 1957 and moved to Birmingham. The two would raise their family of three children Chris, Kerry, and Betsy in Birmingham. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her gentle, caring, and compassionate spirit made her easy to love. She dearly loved her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clyde H. Coker; son Chris Coker (Rhonda) of Birmingham, AL; son Kerry Coker (Beth) of Dexter, Michigan; daughter Betsy Walraven (Mike) of Birmingham, AL; grandsons Michael and Peyton Walraven and Jonathan Coker; brother George Bostick (Becky) of Alexandria, Va. And a host of nieces, nephews, and livelong friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Ellis Bostick and mother Elizabeth Bostick.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Johns Rideouts Elmwood Chapel. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 pm. Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice.
