OBITUARY

Barbara C Head

January 11, 1931January 6, 2021

Barbara Carlisle Head passed away peacefully on January 6,2021. She knew that this world was not her home and looked forward to living forever in heaven. From the day she came to know Christ in 1964, Barbara taught her 3 children and 9 grandchildren the love of her Savior. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ethel Carlisle, and by her sister, Vivian Carlisle. Barbara is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gene Head Sr. Her three children and their spouses carry on her legacy with joy: Lynn Head Cline (Wes), Vivi Head Wright (Tim), and Gene Head Jr. (Sharon). Nine grandchildren called her "Gamia" and loved her dearly: Lee Wright (Sarah), Wesley Cline (Courtney), Jennifer Childress (Clay), Barbara Lindsey (Chris), Laura Josefsson (Niklas), Abby Haley (Carson), Carly Cline, Wade Cline, and Evans Head. The Lord also blessed her life with ten great grandchildren.

Barbara grew up in Birmingham, attending Woodlawn High School and Birmingham Southern College. She loved art and music, especially performing as the lead in many operas under the leadership of Dr. Raymond Anderson. It was here, at BSC, that she met Gene Head. Their marriage would encompass decades of travel, building a successful business together, and serving the Lord through a gift of hospitality. Barbara was an impeccable homemaker and opened their home to everyone, with great joy and love. She was an active and faithful member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, the Legacy League of Samford University, and the Barkley Square Garden Club.

A graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery will take place on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Big Oak Ranch, www.bigoak.org
