Barry Joseph Singleton, age 55, was born to parents Gloria McCain Singleton and Joseph Howard Singleton in Birmingham, Alabama on May 7th, 1966. He departed his earthly plane on February 11th, 2022. Barry was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a liberal arts degree in English and Philosophy. Barry was a prolific reader, and was well versed on the composition and the art of literature. This carried over into his love of composing the written word and he was a skilled and accomplished writer. He worked for United Airlines, State Farm Insurance, and was a manager at National Car Rental.
Barry was blessed with a loving family. He married his best friend and long time companion Janetta (Parker) Singleton in 2009. He is survived by his beloved sister Lori Singleton Jackson and her son Austin Trevor Jackson. Austin and Barry had a particularly special bond that only the two of them spoke the necessary language. He had many aunts, uncles, and cousins who he enjoyed watching grow and age at his side. Everyone who was blessed to be a part of his family, be it immediate or extended, was impacted for the better for having him as a part of their lives. This sentiment is extended into the long list of friends that he amassed over his years within his life. Everyone that he considered a friend held Barry in a place of love and adoration.
Barry was a lover of animals, and none went without care under his patient and loving watch. His compassion for them echoed the love and warmth for the people who were a part of his life. Everyone he met was touched by his sense of humor and his sharp wit. He was always the life of any gathering. He had a strong love and appreciation for art. He loved visual art, film, literature, and poetry equally and spent his life surrounding himself with the things that brought beauty to his world.
