Bertha Bowman Cody

CODY, BERTHA “JOJO” BOWMAN, age 80 of Birmingham, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Charles Cody, Sr.; parents; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers. She is survived by her children, Bert Howard Cody (Angela), Debra Cody Morton (Bobby) William Charles Cody, Jr, Lisa Mayhew (Steve) and Tracey Ray; grandchildren, Michael Self, Bert Cody, Jr. (Paije), Leslie Morton Green (Michael), Michele Standridge and Benjamin Standridge (Rebekah); 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jojo graduated from Woodlawn High School and served in the U.S. Army. She was a longtime secretary for the FOP and volunteered at the VA hospital for many years. Her family will celebrate her life with visitation on Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 1-2 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with her service beginning at 2:00. There will be a graveside service Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Forest Crest Cemetery beginning at 11:00.
