Bessie G Moore

Bessie Frances Goodgame Moore, age 88, of Hueytown, Alabama, passed away July 10, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Fanny Jule Mann Goodgame Cosby (Hardy H.) and the late Charles Tyus Goodgame, Sr. (Gertrude). She was preceded in death by the love of her life, James Floyd (Bud) Moore; second husband, Robert H. Bumgardner, Jr.; and brother, Charles Tyus Goodgame, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie Moore-Loggains (Darrel) and Nancy Jennings (Gene); grandchildren, Matt Goodwin, Katie Campbell (Jason), and Dan Jennings; great-grandson, Tillman Campbell; brothers, Bob Goodgame (Teenie) and Johnny Goodgame (Evlin); sister-in-law, Betty Goodgame; nephew, Danny Goodgame (Marcia); nieces, Carla Bond (Cleve) and Cheryl Goodgame; cousins, Joanne Steiner, Judy Ziff, Aileen Walker, and Wadeen Reeve; and several other nieces and nephews.

Bessie was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in WMU. She was an ALFA Insurance agent for fifteen years, a member of the Hueytown Garden Club, and a former member of The Club.

Bessie was a beautiful woman who was known for her outgoing personality. She was grateful for her long life, her faith in God, her family, and her friends. She will be greatly missed.

Her friends, family, and neighbors have been a blessing to her and her daughters in Bessie’s last days. Bessie and her family have appreciated their care and love. The family would like to give a special thanks to Danny and Betty Goodgame for the cherished weekend of laughter and love they provided and to Marilyn and Jerry Johnson for the many ways they ministered to us all.

A private graveside service was held at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her memory to the WMU of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 1343 Hueytown Road, Hueytown, AL 35023.
