
Armstrong, Bettty Joyce (Agrain), 88, of Lehigh Acres, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Betty was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 22, 1927 to Frank I. Agrain and Ethel Agrain. She graduated from Ensley High School. Betty was married to Ira Jack Armstrong, also from Birmingham, Alabama, and a graduate of Ensley High School, for almost 65 years. Jack passed away on August 6, 2011. Betty is survived by one son Frank I. Armstrong, Maj. USAF, (Ret) (Marie) of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters Donna Taylor of Hueytown, Alabama, Debbie Scott (Joe) of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Michelle Altman (Bryan) of Alva, Florida; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Betty and Jack lived in Selma, Alabama, for almost 30 years before retiring to Lehigh Acres Florida in 1982 where they lived until their deaths. Betty was the wing commander's secretary at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama, until the base closed. At which point, she became an ASVAB test proctor. Betty was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church; Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma, Alabama, and Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Betty and Jack traveled extensively in the United States and Europe after their retirement. Betty was an avid bridge player. She loved to cook and garden, and was also an avid reader. She loved to entertain family and friends. She was well-loved and will be sorely missed. Services will be at 2 pm graveside at Elmwood Cemetery on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Elmwood Chapel.
