BETTY LAVENIA PAYTON, age 87 of Irondale, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Payton; daughter, Brenda Leigh Snipes; son-in-law, Randy Tidwell; and grandchildren, Jason Snipes and Justin Snipes. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Sue Moore (Jerry) and Linda “Joyce” Tidwell; sister, Florence Blackstock; son-in-law, Barry Snipes; grandchildren, Toney Moore (Michele), Jeff Moore (Peggy), Stephanie Howze (Tracy), Kayla Snipes, Mandy Barefield (Greg), Darrell Tidwell and Terrall Tidwell (Brittany Thrift); 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. Betty was a longtime member of Overton Road Family Church of God. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Betty never met a stranger and tried to lead them all to Christ. Her family will celebrate her life with visitation of Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 5-7 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Her service will be at Overton Road Family Church of God on Friday, May 7, 2021 beginning at 1:00. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery.

Memaw I want you to know that I love you so very much and I I'm sorry i couldnt have been there more... I thank you for everything you have done for me and my siblings and i thank you for everything you have done for mawmaw, daddy, unc terrell, aunt mandy and all the others. You were and still are a great and amazing caring loving great grandmother. And I would never trade that for the world. I enjoyed all the times we spent together at church and at y'alls house. I wish me and my siblings could have made many more with you before you had to go. But I know that we are still making memorys with you because we always will and always have had you in our hearts. I know you are watching down on all of us and I know you are making sure all of us are taken care of. Braxton zackary hailie and me all love and miss.. love you our gorgeous memaw. I hope you are are happy and not in pain anymore. Love your great grandbabies.
Mawmaw, daddy, uncs, and aunts, I'm so sorry for everything that has been going on I wish we could be there and see yall and hug all of yall. I hope yall know that we love and miss yall so very much and everything is going to be ok. Like all of yall has told me god wont put anything in our path that we can not handle or that we cant over come. I understand this is hard and overwhelming. But I know how strong yall are. We love and miss you so much.
