Beverly Bates Morrison, age 82, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a legacy of love, and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Born on March 7, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, Beverly was the daughter of the late Edgar and Joyce Bates. She grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Ensley High School in 1961. On December 28 of 1962, she married the love of her life, Johnny Mack Morrison. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and the many memories they created throughout their years together. Their marriage remained a treasured part of Beverly’s story until Johnny’s passing in July 2002.
Beverly had a wonderful appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and the beauty found in the world around her. She enjoyed playing tennis, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and expressing her creativity through stained glass. She found peace and happiness in nature, especially in watching animals and appreciating the beauty of the outdoors. The beach and ocean held a special place in her heart, offering the sights and sounds she so dearly loved. She also enjoyed playing the piano, filling her life with the joy of music.
Above all, Beverly’s greatest treasure was her family. She had a special way of making those she loved feel cherished, and her affection was often expressed through a simple but unforgettable phrase. Whenever someone told Beverly, “I love you,” her response was always, “I love you more.” Those four little words perfectly captured the warmth of her heart and the boundless love she had for those closest to her. Though her voice will be deeply missed, those words will continue to echo in the hearts of her family, serving as a beautiful reminder of a love that will never fade.
In addition to her beloved husband, Johnny Mack Morrison, and her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her three brothers, Bobby Bates, Tommy Bates, and Billy Bates.
Left to cherish her memory are her two loving daughters, Lisa Morrison Ingram (Charlie) and Janet Morrison Barber; her grandsons, Danny Ingram (Julie) and Matt Ingram (Jordyn); and her precious great-grandson, Levi Ingram. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Bates (Lori); her sisters-in-law, Sandy Bates and Ginette Bates; her nephews, Todd Bates (Kristy), Greg Bates, Jeff Bates, Brad Bates, and Bobby Ray Canant; and her niece, Laura Gallion (Mike), along with extended family members and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory.
While Beverly’s passing leaves an emptiness in the lives of those who knew and loved her, her memory will live on in the countless moments shared, the traditions passed down, and the love she gave so freely. Her family will remember her in the beauty of the ocean, the peacefulness of nature, the sound of a piano, and every heartfelt exchange of “I love you.”
A visitation for Beverly will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
