Bobby was born and grew up in Birmingham and was a graduate of Woodlawn High School. He attended the University of Alabama and Samford University, graduating in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Pat) Ann Kilgore on June 6, 1958 and cared for her foremost and faithfully for 68 years.
Bobby was affectionately known by all as “B.R.” and was a brightness of joy and kindness to all who knew him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and faith in God. His quiet but steady strength led him to be a community builder wherever he and Pat found themselves. His highest aim was to provide for and build up his family and his church, the family of God.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, his children, Randy (Marion), Michael (Sandra), Suzanne Washington, eight grandchildren, Rachel Hearon Howell (Bryan), Michael Keith Hearon II (Caitlin), Scott Robinson Hearon (Allison), Christopher Scott Hearon (Olivia), Alex Anne Washington Clifton (Michael), Anna Hearon Norton (Wesley), John Connor Hearon (Lissa), Allison Hearon Corona (Jordan), and his 18 great-grandchildren, Caroline Howell, Claire Howell, Walt Howell, Fisher Hearon, Hart Hearon, Griffin Hearon, Nate Corona, Brazo Corona, Leo Corona, Lucy Claire Hearon, Julia Hearon, Samuel Hearon, Michael Keith Hearon III, Gabriel Hearon, Jacob Hearon, Emily Norton, Riley Norton and Fancher Clifton and by beloved cousins, Kay Sharp and Anita Orr.
His career vocation was in computer science and data processing. He worked for many years at Pemco Aeroplex (Hayes Aircraft), serving as the Director of Data Processing. After retiring from work at one corporation for 42 years, he was also employed for 10 years at Boise Cascade and Weyerhaeuser as a computer specialist in Huntsville, AL and Memphis, TN.
B.R. and Pat participated and strengthened community in Crestwood, Avondale Park, East Lake, Banks High School, East Lake United Methodist Church and the last 18 years at Fair Haven Senior Living Community. He was always willing to serve and lead and his influence was infectious, serving as the commissioner of Southside Park baseball, the chairman of the Crestwood Colts Youth Association, the president of the Banks High Booster Club and the beloved coach of his sons and friends in youth sports. He could build loyalty among parents and inspire young players to live like winners and the teams he led always displayed his amazing resilience and optimism. Besides sports, he loved to listen to all kinds of music, hymnody and classical were his favorites, and he was an amazing card player, especially enjoying playing bridge with his wife and friends. B.R. is now safely home and waiting where time is no more but love is eternal, and reunion is sure.
The family would like to thank dear friends, Shay Sims, Fantasia Fehring, Quitta Howard, Marsha Walton, Judy Parker and Ed Riley who provide kindness and care to our parents and our family.
