Bobby Burnice Holt

Dr. Bobby Burnice Holt went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 27, 2022. Bobby was born on March 11, 1939 in Locust Fork, Alabama and was the youngest of nine children to Fred and Pearl Holt. Bobby was the epitome of the American dream. He was a dedicated general surgeon for many years at Montclair Hospital and the Baptist Medical System which later led to his grandchildren affectionately calling him Doc. Bobby graduated from Locust Fork High School and received his bachelors degree and medical degree from The University of Alabama. Bobby had a heart for helping people and found great joy in serving others through his career in medicine.

As dedicated as Bobby was to his patients, he was equally dedicated to his beloved wife of 43 years, Patti Holt; his three children, Jarod Holt (Liz), Tyler Holt (Becky), and Fleming Long (Chad). He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren: Chandler Holt (Jarod and Liz), Jonathan and Maggie Holt (Tyler and Becky), Holt, Ellington, and Emerson Long (Chad and Fleming). Tagging along with Patti, he rarely missed a game, dance recital, or school program. His legacy will live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

The family takes great comfort in knowing Bobby has been reunited with the love of his life, Patti, who passed away on January 31, 2022. He is also preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Charlie Holt (Jarod and Liz), his five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sister, Madie Cook, his three loving children and six adoring grandchildren.

A memorial celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 11AM at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent in Bobby’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Comfort Care Hospice for the tremendous love and care they provided Bobby throughout the past few months with special thanks to Robbie, Jennifer, and Leslie.
