Carlton Lamar Connell Sr.

Carlton Lamar Connell, Sr., age 94 of Trussville passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Lamar was born in Clanton, AL to Mack and Annie Connell. He graduated from Chilton County High School and graduated from Draughan’s Business College. Lamar was in the Navy (1952-1953) aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Philippine Sea during the Korean War. He worked and retired from ACIPCO with nearly 43 years of service. He joined Huffman United Methodist Church in May of 1955 and attended faithfully with honors. He served Friendship Sunday School and was a charter member. Lamar was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy “Dot” McInish Connell. Mr. Connell is survived by his children, Carl Connell (Deborah) and Larry Connell; grandchildren, Christina Connell and Carmen Burttram (Whit); and great-granddaughter, Lucy Burttram. His family will celebrate his life with visitation from 10:30-11:00 on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with his service beginning at 11:00. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
