

DENARD, CARLTON, age 81 of Pell City, entered into eternal life surrounded by his family on February 25, 2020. Carlton was born January 4, 1939 in Red Bay, AL to George Mathern Denard and Rosa Moxley Denard both deceased. Carlton is survived by his wife of 24 years, Judi Scott Denard; four children, Wayne Denard (Robin), Carla Eason (Duane), Rebecca Bittle (Paul), Jeanette Berry (Todd) and two daughters added in 1996, Tracy Cline (deceased) and Parys Scott; nine grandchildren, Joshua Denard (Caitlyn), Jared Denard (Sara), Stephanie Myers (Chandler), Stephen Eason (Emily), Kristen Dunagan (Colley), Hannah Bittle, Jenna Berry, Kylie Berry and Taylor Cline; seven great-grandchildren, Hadley and Wells Denard, Sam, Collier and Cara Myers, Adalyn Dunagan and Luke Denard; siblings, Elease Johns, Lane Denard (Christine), Donald Denard (Martha) and Tommy Denard. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Denard and Mathern Denard. He attended Leeds School, Jefferson State Community College and The University of Montevallo where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business and in fire science. In 1956, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for four years. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Minot, North Dakota where he met his first wife, Virginia Bock Denard (deceased). They were married for 27 years. While on vacation in Panama City, Florida, he met his second wife, Judi Scott Denard and they were married on February 17, 1996. Carlton worked for The Birmingham Fire Department, became a Lieutenant and retired after 28 years of service. He was a Home Builder, Developer and in retirement worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), he was also a member of The Red Elephant Club and Retired Fireman’s Association. Carlton loved having family dinners on Sunday, watching Alabama football, gardening, taking rides around the lake in his golf cart with Judi and his great-grandchildren, boating, working in his yard, woodworking and most of all his family. He taught his children what family was all about and instilled a strong work ethic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to his favorite charity Lakeside Hospice of Pell City 40 Masters Road Pell City, AL 35128 (205) 884-1111. His family will celebrate his life at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Saturday, February 29, 2020 with visitation from 1-2 PM with his service beginning at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
