Carole Milan Zarichnak, aged 81, passed away June 8, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on August 8, 1942 in Birmingham to Joseph and Kathleen Milan. She grew up in Norwood and graduated from Phillips High School. She worked as a legal secretary and married Michael Lawrence Zarichnak “Mike” in 1975. She was a loving mother and grandmother and always placed family first. Carole’s faith was also very important to her. She was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and volunteered as a sacristan, chapel adorer, and leader in the OCIA program. She had a passion for people and guided many in their new faith in the Catholic Church. Carole was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Kathleen, husband Mike, brother John Milan, sister Mary Katherine Zito, and nephew Brian Joseph Criswell. She is survived by her son Michael Zarichnak (Jenny,) Andrea Mitchell (Douglas,) grandsons Michael and Luke Zarichnak and sister Elizabeth Criswell. The family will received friends Thursday, June 13, 2024 starting at 10:00 AM with funeral mass to follow at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood, AL. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude or Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
