Cecil Kerry Parks of Lucedale, MS passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Bessemer, AL on June 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Samuel David and Marie Champion Parks and was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Parks McLain, and his brothers, Alton and Gene Parks.
Mr. Parks was a graduate of West End High School where he played football and baseball and was a member of West End’s 1953 4A state champion football team. After high school Mr. Parks served his country in the Marines before later attending Birmingham Southern College where he graduated with a degree in business. Afterwards, he embarked on a career as an insurance claims adjuster with, among others, Allstate, The Stateman’s Group and Alfa that spanned more than forty years. Always known for his thorough, professional approach, prior to retiring he specialized in settling claims in areas of the country struck by natural disasters.
Mr. Parks is survived by his daughter Wendy Wooten (Mark) and son Jeff Parks (Sonya); three grandsons Neil Wooten (Alexandra), John Wooten (Rachel) and Grant Wooten (Laura); two granddaughters Mallory Parks Uribe (Sebastian) and Madison Parks Forchion (Justin); two great grandchildren Loretta Uribe and Roman Wooten as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, August 14, 2026 with visitation beginning at 10 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am. Mr. Parks will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL where he will be laid to rest alongside his mother and father.
