It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chad Charles Furn Wood, a loving soul who touched the hearts of all who knew him. Chad's journey in life came to a close on July 18,2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will endure forever.
Outside of his work at the family business, Johnny Ray's BBQ, Chad's true passion was found on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. A dedicated fisherman at his core, there was no place he felt more at peace and more at home than when casting his line into the waves. Fishing was not merely a hobby for Chad; it was a profound connection to nature that provided solace and tranquility in his life. Next to fishing he loved his family, animals, and Alabama Football.
Chad's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kim, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Chad was a loving and devoted father to his two sons, Tanner and Chase (Kristi). He adored his four grandchildren, Ryleigh, Addi, Cason, and Harper, cherishing every moment spent with them.
He also leaves behind his caring sister, Sunny Workman (Owen) with whom he shared a special sibling bond. Chad's love extended to his nieces and nephews, Mia, Wren, and Garrett.
Chad was preceded in death by his loving parents, Dianne "Dee" and Gary Wood. Grandparents, Honey and Johnny Ray and Virginia and Furn Wood.
In addition to his beloved family, Chad found comfort in the companionship of his favorite dog, Gemma, and his cherished cat, Puff. These loyal and loving animals were more than pets; they were faithful friends who brought joy and comfort to Chad's life.
In honor of Chad's memory, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 5th at 11:00 a.m. C.S.T. at The Healing Place Church (Youth Sanctuary), 5709 Trussville Clay Road, Trussville, Alabama 35173. We invite all those who knew and loved Chad to join us in celebrating his life and bidding him a heartfelt farewell.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to any local animal shelter, The Healing Place Church in Chad’s name, American Diabetes Foundation, Michael J Fox Foundation or 4Ocean.com.
Chad will be dearly missed but forever remembered as a bright light that graced our lives. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the beautiful memories we shared.
