Charles Hale Ramsay passed away on August 17, 2026 in Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 76. Born in Birmingham on April 24, 1950 to Robert McLester Ramsay and Rhoda Hale Ramsay, Mr. Ramsay attended Mountain Brook Elementary School, Riverside Military Academy and graduated from Shades Valley High School. Upon graduation, he went to work for his father's company, Banks, Ellett and Ramsay, Inc./Shook and Fletcher Mechanical as an apprentice plumber/steamfitter. Mr. Ramsay was a member of Plumber's Local 91 for over 50 years. He was proud to have worked on many of the largest construction projects in the Jefferson County area.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Patricia Skaggs, and his younger sister, Mary McLester Ramsay Fikes. Mr. Ramsay is survived by his son, Markus Hale Ramsay, his sister Rhoda Ramsay Abdo, his brothers, Erskine Ramsay II (Laura), Dr. Robert McLester Ramsay, Jr., (Betty) and Richard Gibson Ramsay. He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews, and twenty great nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am at Elmwood Cemetery. Having grown up at Canterbury United Methodist Church, the family request that any memorials be made to Canterbury or a charity of your choice.
