Clifton Andrew Nail, age 41, passed away on June 8, 2026. Born May 19, 1985, to Mary Beth and Braxton Nail, Cliff brought an immediate light and warmth into the world that radiated throughout his life.
Smart, funny, and always smiling, Cliff was a genuine friend to everyone he met and possessed a generous spirit, always willing to assist others in need. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life – spending time on the lake, relaxing on the beach, and traveling to new places with his beloved friends and family. Above all, Cliff adored his children. He was an active and deeply devoted father who took pride in coaching them in basketball and soccer, as well as teaching their Sunday School classes.
Cliff was passionate about his professional life. He served with distinction as an Associate Managing Director of Wealth at Oakworth Capital Bank, and he previously provided his leadership and dedication to Regions Bank. Cliff was a proud 2007 graduate of the University of Alabama and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Shortly after graduation, he met the love of his life and best friend, Ashley. They built a life together, marrying in 2011 and raising two beautiful children.
An enduring cornerstone of Cliff’s life was his passion for helping others and serving his community. He served as a board member for the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, also fostering and adopting many dogs, including Willow, his German Wirehaired Pointer. He served on the board of the Megan Montgomery Foundation and previously served on the board of Impact Family Counseling and the junior board of Ronald McDonald House Alabama.
Cliff is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 15 years, Ashley, and children, Carson and Sims; his mother, Mary Beth Meeks (Don); brothers Matt Nail (Brittany) and Brent Nail (Shane) and sister Rachel Riley; grandmothers Eunice Nail and Gloria Dorman (Bill); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Braxton Nail.
Memories of Cliff and all of those silly “Cliff stories” will remain forever in the hearts of the many friends and family who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
