April 5, 2021 at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde T. Freeman
and Lois Freeman Carraway. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nelle Freeman, sister
Barbara Freeman Harrison (John), Florence, AL and sister-in-law Delle Geeslin, Thorsby, AL.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 12, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama, with graveside service following at 11:00 am at Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. Butch Williams officiating the service.
Clyde was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on November 11, 1936, to parents Clyde
Theaston and Lois Kerr Freeman. He spent his youth in Birmingham, Alabama where he
attended Shades Valley High School, Marion Military Institute, University of Alabama. He
received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree at Howard College. He joined the U.S.
Army in 1961, and served his country proudly. After active duty, he bought Levy Drug
Company in Birmingham, Alabama. Later he open Freeman's Discount Pharmacy. He
worked as a Pharmacy Administrator at Jefferson Health Department years.
After retirement, he opened Special Formula Prescriptions, and later Freeman's Compounding Shop.
His family is greatly comforted in knowing he is in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Children are Leslie Freeman Abdo (Fares), Paula Freeman Hardy (Doug), Jacqueline Gunn, and Lee Gunn; Grandchildren, Jacob F. Abdo (Erica), Michael Abdo, Samuel F. Hardy, (Hannah), Scott L. Hardy, Scott M. Gordon, Cameron Gunn, Taylor Gunn and Madison Gunn Smitherman (Trent); Great Grandchildren, Olivia F. Abdo and Kambree Dean Smitherman. There was a special place in his heart for all his family and friends.
Clyde and Nelle are members of Vestavia Methodist Church where they have enjoyed
fellowship with friends for many years.
Clyde was a member of Vestavia Country Club for over 50 years. His friends brought joy to his life which he took very seriously. He always enjoyed golf with friends in and out of town. After having health issues, he joined Red Eagle Skeet Club in Childersburg, Alabama. His last remark to one of his friend was, "if I don't see you at Red Eagle, I will see you in Heaven". In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer’s association, Alabama Chapter in honor of his precious daughter Leslie who is afflicted with dementia.
