Clyde Ellis Martin

MARTIN, CLYDE E., age 85 of Birmingham, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015. He was born to J. Fred Martin and Annie Martin in Anniston, AL. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Frederick Martin, Frank Martin and Gerald Martin. He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Sarah Adalene Martin; sister, Clara Soleman; children, Duane Martin, Deborah Shaw, Lara Martin and Brandi Martin; and grandchildren, Brooklynne and Meaghan Todd. Clyde served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service time, he earned a Bachelor and Master’s Degree from Jacksonville State University. He taught at Alexandria High School and Jacksonville State University before moving to Birmingham to teach at Jefferson State Community College until his retirement. He also attended Auburn University and the University of Alabama. Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 10:30-12:00. There will be a graveside service at Eulaton United Methodist Church Cemetery in Anniston, AL beginning at 2:00 PM.
