
CUNNINGHAM, DALE LEE Dale Lee Cunningham, 82, died February 25, 2012, at his home in Sumiton, Alabama. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28th from 12:00-1:00pm at Johns-Rideout's Elmwood Chapel with Funeral service directly after. He was born October 2, 1929 to Thomas Sandy Cunningham and Lula Vines in Alabama. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters. As a young man, Dale served in the United States Navy. He worked 43 years for U.S. Steel before retiring in 1992. Dale could accomplish anything he set his mind to. Dale was a master mechanic and could fix and build anything he could imagine. Dale and his friends, Gerald Morgan and Glenn Laminac, remodeled homes in the Birmingham area. Dale was a member of Wylam Baptist Church for many years where he loved to sing in the church choir and was involved with the youth group, always driving the van for youth trips, where the kids called him Jazz and Mr. C. Most recently, Dale was a member at New Temple Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Sue; brother Talmadge Cunningham (Bonnie); sister and brother-in-law, Gerald and Eloise Morgan; three children, Kenneth Cunningham, Sue Halley (John), and Dalene Decker; seven grandchildren, Terri Freeman Hornsby, Trisa Burnam (Derreck), Michael Cunningham (Ketra), Tim Stewart (Amber), Heather Glaze (Richard), Justin Halley, and Lee Decker; nine great grandchildren, Justice Cauley, Jacob Burnham, Korbin Jeffries, Jared Burnham, Michael Cunningham Jr., Nancy Glaze, Casen Stewart, Zoey Stewart, and Jarred Stewart and several nieces and nephews.
