Dan Alfred Harris Jr.

Dan will be remembered for his joyful smile, his caring spirit, and his unwavering reputation as a true gentleman. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Carole White Harris, to whom he was devotedly married for 65 years.

He is survived by his three daughters Dana Harris Camp (William), Leslie Harris Novak (Ken) and Claire Harris Bryant (Rodney); his grandsons, Harrison Camp and Justin Wampol; his granddaughter Meagan Bryant Bennett (Branson); and his great-granddaughter Margaret Claire.

Dan graduated from Sylacauga High School before serving in the U.S. Army with 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One) during the Occupation of Germany. He was attending The University of Alabama when he began his career with PPG Industries. His career with PPG spanned 39 years and took his family to Tuscaloosa, Dothan, Montgomery, and Birmingham. Dan was a charter member of PPG Pinnacle Society.

A faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Center Point for more than 50 years, Dan served the church in numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the Administrative Board, Chairman of Trustees, Treasurer, and member of the building committee. More recently, Dan was a member of First Baptist Church of Trussville.

Dan was passionate about The University of Alabama and Crimson Tide athletics. A talented athlete himself, he played both high school and semi-professional baseball and was an avid golfer throughout his life.

The family had a private burial service.
