Darrell Ray Cleary Sr.

Darrell, affectionately known as Ray by his family and friends, was born on September 13, 1937, to the late Richard H. and Melinda Simmons Cleary. Ray enjoyed cars (Mercedes in particular), guns, playing pool, and casino trips. He loved playing slot machines. Ray was incredibly proud of his family's home and his property. He had the best vegetable garden on this side of heaven. Also, in his free time, Ray was an avid reader. He loved learning new things, especially about history. Ray worked as an Appliance Repairman and retired from Alabama Power Company. He loved helping people when they could use a hand. No matter what the issue was.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Herbert and Melinda Simmons Cleary; brothers, Donald Cleary, Bruce Cleary, and Herbert Cleary; and sister, Betty Phillips.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 55 years, Brenda R. Cleary; son, Darrell Ray Cleary Jr.; daughter, Amie Cleary; grandchild, Lauren Cleary North (Danny); brothers-in-law, Ken Rollins and Tom Rollins and their families; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A visitation for Ray will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 14167 US-11, Springville, AL 35146, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
