

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frederick W. Karthaus, Jr. and Mittie L. Karthaus. David is survived by his cherished daughters, Lynzie Rouse (Clayton) and Rachael Karthaus, who were the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind his devoted sister, Leigh Pickett (David), and loving brother, Frederick Karthaus, III (Connie); nieces, Courtney Pickett, Taylor Pickett, Bethany Cox (Colby), and Allison McLemore (Ashton); and his significant other, Ladonna Karthaus.
David was a man of the land, finding peace and purpose in farming, gardening, and the thrill of the hunt. He loved spending time on the family farm, where he felt most at home. His heart belonged to the beach, where he made countless memories with those he loved. A devoted father and a great provider, David taught his daughters how to be strong, resilient warriors in life. His sense of humor was infectious, and his presence brought warmth and laughter to every room.
He was adored by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery. Attendees are asked to meet at Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave. SW, Birmingham, AL 35211, to process to the service together.
David’s legacy of love, strength, and laughter will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
