David R. Nix

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hedy; two children, Norman Nix (LouAnn) and Suzanne Nix Peranich (Eddy); three grandchildren, Jonathan & Casey Peranich, and Daniel Nix. He also leaves behind his twin sister, Elsie Langley and older brother, Jack Nix.

David was a veteran of the US Army, where he served for 6 years, from 1954-1960. He was a longtime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 for 45 years. He was more recently a member of DAV Chapter 28 in Oneonta, AL.

David worked at Sears and Roebuck for 38 years. He took great pride in never missing a day of work. He retired in 1998.

During his retirement, he spent time golfing, camping, and enjoying grandchildren. He loved camping and made many friends on his camping trips to South Florida. David was always there to lend a helping hand.

His family will receive friends Wednesday Feb. 22, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Funeral service will start at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
