Born on October 21, 1957 in Fairfield, Alabama, Debbie was the eldest child of Patsy W. Smith and Samuel A. Smith.
Debbie’s hobby was traveling, and did it extensively with her best friend of 45 years, Virginia Stewart. They visited South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Antarctica, Iceland, Israel and parts of Europe, just to name a few.
Debbie graduated from Midfield High School in the 70’s and went on to complete her MBA at Birmingham Southern College in 1981.
Debbie worked at AT&T and retired from there.
Debbie is survived by her brother, Daniel H. Smith, cousins, Liz Jones (Doug); Cathy Jones (Larry); Connie Pate; Becky Brashier (Bruce); Patty Sutphin; Willie Walker, and her Aunt Marlis Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patsy H. and Samuel A. Smith.
A Visitation will be held at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Graveside Service to follow in Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at UAB MCCU and the nurses at UAB Palliative Care for their compassionate care for Debbie.
