Deborah (“Debi”) Toland Swindal, 69, of Birmingham, AL passed peacefully surrounded by her children and loving husband on Tuesday July 22, 2025. She is survived by her husband Roy Swindal (who she lovingly referred to as “Shep”); six children, Jacob (Chyla) Cranman, John (Megan) Swindal, Micah Cranman, Jacob (Emily) Swindal, Adria (Lior) Moshe, and Ellen (Isaac) Swindal; and fourteen grandchildren, Riley, Moncie, Mason, Grayson, Ben, Bridgette, Peter, Piper, Satya, Nava, Dahlia, Olive, Penny, and Helaena. Debi was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend to all lucky enough to know her. She was the cultured product of an international upbringing from her Moroccan mother Rachel Juliette Abitan Toland, and U.S. Air Force Engineer Donald Bruce Toland. She often regaled friends and family with tales of her childhood across continents around a Shabbat dinner table prepared with love and effortless precision. A talented businesswoman, artist, master cosmetologist, and alternative medicine expert, Debi was most known for her kindness, generosity, elegance, compassion, and her talent for impersonations. May Debi’s memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
