HAMBY, D.R. "RICK" age 66, of Birmingham passed away peacefully on August 29th at his home. He was retired from BellSouth and was a Sloan Fellow at M.I.T. in Cambridge, MA. He also opened The Goddard School in Hoover, AL which is currently operated by his son. Rick was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Colleen; his mother, Ann Hamby and 2 brothers Skip and Bob Hamby. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Hamby; 4 children, Kim Kinder (Mike), Dennis Hamby (Tashanna), Patrick Hamby (Katherine) and Kevin Hamby (Kelle'); 2 brothers, Tony and Steve Hamby; 9 grandchildren, Brian and Ellie Kinder, DJ, Arianna and Mykayla Hamby, Mary Frances and Patrick Hamby and Caroline and Kevin Hamby. Funeral Services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on September 1. Visitation will be from 11 - 1 with services immediately following. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
