Dolores Carole Goehler

Dolores Carole Goehler, 83, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the only child of the late Carl Henry Goehler and Helene Marie Szakats Goehler. She was a lifelong resident of West End and attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School, Robert E. Lee School and graduated from West End High School in May of 1952. She continued her education by taking a course at Burroughs School of Calculator Operators. She was baptized at 6 weeks, confirmed and an active member at First Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the junior and senior Walter league, adult league, business women’s club, adult choir served on various committees and held offices, taught Sunday School in the primary department for 42 continuous years, where she also played the piano for their opening session and enjoyed visiting the sick and shut ins. She was also a member of 78 West Business and Professional Women’s Club. Dolores was employed at St. Vincent Hospital as a X-ray technician; Hill Grocery as a payroll supervisor; Cosby-Hodges Milling Company as traffic manager and Lloyd Noland Hospital as patient accounts representative. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl Henry and Helene Marie Goehler; grandparents Ernst Louis and Hedwig Helene Goehler, Arpad Luis and Anna Marie Szakats; aunts, Alma and Anna Goehler and beloved friend and companion for 11 years, Charles E. Glidewell. She is survived by her cousins, family of Charles Glidewell, friends and God- Children Marcy Bonham Sharit, Patricia Emilie Old and Mark Luis Szakats. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at First Lutheran Church with a Celebration of Life following at 11 a.m. Burial at Elmwood cemetery.
